Canal Pit
General Description
Canal Pit is a small water located alongside the canal towards the end of the big wide at Whatcroft. In 2011 this water suffered a decimating fish kill, but is slowly recovering.
A variety of species are present, including perch, roach rudd and eels.
It is strongly advised that members park at Billinge and walk down the canal, rather than crossing an active train line which is both illegal and dangerous.
